About this event
Presented by Laura Belevica and Yoshiyuki Nagata (Latvia and Japan)
This event is held in parallel of World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development, UNESCO held in Berlin from May 17-19 with a mission to encouraging people to take part in global efforts to promote Education for Sustainable Development in the month of May.
Developed by Laura Belevica - Latvian artist and shadow storyteller, CONNECTEDkind was released to the world from Los Angeles on March 14, 2020 - the day of school closures due to COVID-19.
CONNECTEDkind is a conscious drawing practice focused on transforming the mindset of the humankind through art. Rooted in natural objects and their shadows, it creates a framework and provides tools to reach a place of silence within to feel empowered to truly respond rather than act.
This groundbreaking yet simple method unlocks new ways of seeing and engaging the world by unleashing the kind human and the artist within. During the pandemic CONNECTEDkind spread across the globe transforming into an international program. Participants of all ages and walks of life so far have created more than 1000 DROPLETS (drawings).
The effectiveness of the method was verified with successive engagement by Japanese students, empowering them to come in touch with their sense of wellbeing. Many participants expressed the feelings of interconnectedness with nature and the other participants and continue connecting despite limitations imposed by social distancing.
